Back from Disney World, and Tickets for General Motors Place

Went to Disney World. It was fun, but it was not without it’s downside. For one thing, it’s like the second or third time I’ve been there since Disney and General Motors did the Test Track.

Apparently, the sponsorship of Test Track is in jeaopardy. Understandable, given General Motors financial problems. I wonder if they’ll mothball the ride, if General Motors stops sponsoring.

The Test Track replaced the also GM-sponsored World of Motion at EPCOT, which I still remember fondly.

I kinda wonder if one of the reasons General Motors is having problems–other than outrageous union contracts–would be sponsoring things like Test Track, and helping foot the bill for entire sports arenas, like General Motors Place. BTW, you can get General Motors Place tickets right now from ACheapSeat.com. They also offer Sears Centre Arena tickets (really, that’s the kind of thing Sears has been spending their money on?). At least Verizon has the money to spend on Arena Sponsorships. Which they did. And you can get Verizon Center Tickets from those guys, too.

Why is it Sears Centre but Verizon Center? And then, General Motors Place? I don’t suppose we’ll ever answer these questions.

Talking about Disney World and Tickets, I gotta mention a few other things. You may be able to get get cheap tickets to sports arenas, but getting cheap tickets to Disney World is a whole other thing. I tried to get some tickets near the resort from folks promising cheap tickets, but they didn’t have them, or it involved some weird bait-and-switch, or you have to go drag your family to sit through some three-hour presentation on why you should spend your life savings on a time-share property to get a thirty dollar discount on some park tickets. That sucked. But there’s another side to the story . . .

The Disney World Ticket and Transportation Center, which is mainly for getting to the Magic Kingdom. It's also like right next door to the Polynesian Resort. You can just walk from one to the other.

We had come down to Florida with four day passes for the parks. We used them, then wanted some more days. Then I find out if you go to the ticket center, you can add days for like $3 bucks a day. So you don’t get penalized for just buying a five day pass in the first place. Anyway, that was cool, we bought the extra days, had a great dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Dinner Theater and saw the Beauty & The Beast Show. Had a three-almost-four year old little girl who was delighted. It was awesome.

Now, I’m looking forward to going again in a year or two. I just need to lose weight and get in primo-walking shape. My feet were hard hit, this trip.

All right. More later, peoples. Have a great day!
