People Want Me to Go Satellite, But I’m Waiting for IP TV

Lots of people out there want my to switch to Direct TV. From friends and family to an awful lot of email I get that claims to be from people I know but I don’t think I really do.

And I like the idea of  Satellite Directv. A lot. My Dad has it. I may have mentioned that. If I could be sure an arrangement of DirectTV and DSL from AT&T would actually be cheaper than Comcast.

Speaking of satellites, does anybody reading this subscribe to XM Radio? Or, Sirius Satellite Radio, I suppose? Anybody else notice that since XM and Sirius merged, they are messing up the stations? I swear, I can’t find stations I used to like to listen to. They’re just gone, replaced by something from Sirius that I don’t want. What’s that all about?

How XM Satellite Radio Works. Pretty cool, but I still don't think I'm going to renew.

If the Dish Network and Direct TV Satellite networks merge, would the same thing happen? Would channels get rearranged or disappear or cost more? I’m sorry, but I worry about these things.

I dunno. I think in the long run, home television is going to get replaced by some form of IP TV, using things like iTunes and the AppleTV or Hulu and Boxee. It’s just the way things are going. And don’t forget the Slingcatcher from Sling Media. It fits in there, somewhere, too. I’m not saying I know where, just that I might skip a transition to Direct Satellite TV or whatever entirely, and just wait for IP TV to get good enough. Cuz it is getting there, and faster than you might think.

Awright. Gotta run and do real work. More later.
