Palin Pardons a Turkey, All Others Get the Axe

And thank goodness for that. Turkey is good eatin’.

I love how Palin = Scandal! Comments on the video at YouTube, as of this posting, say things like “I bet PETA is knocking on her door right about now.”

Um, PETA didn’t know that turkeys are food? Where do they think turkey sandwiches come from? The sandwich fairy? Well, it may have been impolitic, but I’m betting most of the folks thinking this is some sort of Palin scandal or PR tragedy don’t have any trouble shoveling the product of set “turkey massacre” in their mouth.

I have seen this sort of unspeakable horror before. It America, we call it “a farm”. Sheesh.

Sarah Palin Pardons Turkey but Ignores Veterans. That headline just jumped out at me as “huh?” I thought the guys who did the “Palin didn’t know Africa was a continent” hoax were done. What, you didn’t know all that was bullhockey? Well, more on the Palin hoax here. It even got a little play in The New York Times. Learn something new every day, dontcha? You betcha!

Paliin’s Turkey Photo Op. And Palin’s Turkey Pardon Mishap. Hey, as long as the turkey she pardoned didn’t get butchered, it’s not a mishap. Sarah Palin Interviewed in front of Turkey Murder. Murder! Again, in the real world, we call that “farming” or “food production” or “Thanksgiving”.

You spoiled urbanites should be grateful for the thankless toiling the folks who make your sandwiches and the beef jerkey you scarf while blogging about how stupid they are do.

Man, that was an awkward sentence. I’m sure Tim “I’m-Smarter-Than-You-You-Backwoods-Hick” Hatch, who commented on my Jon Stewart/Sarah Palin post will nail me for that one, if he returns one day.

I should probably re-read The Elements of Style. That’s a good book.

I think you hit it on the head with “Style.” You don’t pardon a turkey and then give an interview if front of them being slaughtered. It simply lacks… style. Unless of course you’re trying to promote black comedy, in which case, good job Sarah.

Black comedy . . . or turkey sandwiches. Mmmmm. Turkey sandwiches. Ground turkey makes for awesome Hamburger Helper, BTW.

    ’m shocked!

(For those of you with ADD and only focus on the bird – there is actually a very shocking message).

The shocker: A state actually saved money during a surplus!

    Ok, I’m officially shocked!

Other states like Illinois spent all their surplus and now asking for help. What if companies did this – saved money for a rainy day – instead of spend – we would have a different economic situation.

It is really common sense. We need that in our government.

And the reason why so many people are still talking about Palin is because she is a threat. You see the Obama administration is so focused on presentation, even to a fault, spending great time making sure they look good.

The biggest threat to Obama’s strategy is having someone who is real and authentic come along with an actual REAL record to show for it.

So what a turkey is slaughtered. I’d rather my leaders spend her time worrying about government spending, than making sure her setup is perfect.

    But as for Me…

I look at the record of leaders, not how they present themselves. Saving money. Now that’s smart.

Oh, yeah, her message is dead on. Of course. So why would anybody pay attention that that, armchairmba?

But I’m still amazed at the people who are all about the turkey slaughter. Where do they think their turkey bacon comes from? This is the message from all the pundits:

Sarah Palin was at a farm! Where they were doing the kinds of things they do on farms, like slaughtering livestock that will eventually feed people. Shocking!

The distance that most folks have from the blood-and-guts that actually make this country work and feed our people will never cease to amaze me.

Of course, paying no attention to the content of what Palin said is just par for the course. Why would we expect anything different from people who apparently don’t know where that tasty Thanksgiving turkey actually comes from? Or what happens on a farm?

Thanks for comin’ by, armchairmba. If that is your real name.

    For everything else, there’s MasterCard.

Until the banks collapse, that is.
